1: The Surprisingly Romantic Highgate Cemetery

Ok so this may not be the best first date idea, but once you’ve got to know someone and if you think this might be their thing than why not try it! Obviously better to go during the day so that you avoid the ghosts at night, Highgate Cemetery is surprisingly beautiful. As you’d expect from a cemetery it’s extremely quiet and peaceful, unlike most of London. And if you’re into celebrity sightings you can always walk past Karl Marx or the writer George Eliot. They’re both dead obviously but still it’s kind of cool.

2: Walk Along the Thames…But with A Difference

Everyone knows the Thames, you may have even strolled past it while on the way to our Speed Dating London Bridge. But whether you’re from London or just a tourist most people will go down the tourist route which leads you down the South Bank, which if you’re looking for romance may not be ideal (lots of great street food though) However if you wander around the Hammersmith bridge area you will find a far different experience and far more romantic. This part of the Thames is usually where rowers go and practise and sometimes you may see a live race being held. There are an abundance of Instagram worthy photo opportunities as the setting is picturesque for miles. It’s also a great place to grab a pint or a glass of wine along your walk as the area has some of the best pubs in London.

3: Get Out of London in Kyoto Gardens

Ok so technically you would still be in London, but you’d never know it as the noise of the city disappears once you enter this magical Japanese Zen garden. It’s a beautiful space hidden away in Holland Park. There is truly something so peaceful and calm about this area and you can easily forget the hustle and bustle of London life just minutes away once you leave.

4: Say Hi to The Deer in Richmond Park

For anyone in London who really wants to feel like they’re out of the city for a while, Richmond Park gives you just that. Not only is it London’s largest Royal Park but there is a real feeling that city life is a whole town away. Maybe it’s that fact there are green spaces as far as the eye can see. Or that wildlife will happily roam around, including beautiful deer who may even stop to nick your sandwiches so be careful! A great idea is to bring a picnic as there is so much space, you’ll likely be about find a quiet spot during your walk to sit down and maybe get even more romantic if no one is watching.

5: Walk Along Little Venice

But Venice is in Italy, isn’t it? Yes, we know. That’s why we call it little Venice. It’s a small part of Italy, but in the London district of Maida Vale. You’ll feel like you have gone back in time if you do this walk as the architecture all remains from early Victorian times. Just like the original Venice, the canals are what makes this place super romantic. There are lovely markets floating as you walk by and the cafes and restaurants make a perfect spot to stop and people watch or have a romantic meal.

6: Feel the Nature on The Parkland Walk

With London being one of the most exciting and inclusive cities in the world nature doesn’t necessarily spring to mind. But the Parkland Walk is for those who know and who want to walk through serene, idyllic open spaces it doesn’t get much better in the city. The route is an old train track, and it starts at Finsbury Park and goes all the way to Alexandra Palace. In total it’s a four-kilometre (2.5-mile) walk which equates to London’s longest nature reserve. You’ll really get a sense of London at it’s best through this walk and at the end of it you’re bound to find a good place to go for a much-needed drink.

7: See London High Up on Hampstead Heath

Through numerous films and tv shows, Hampstead Heath is always seen as the coolest park in London. In total it’s 790 acres of ancient parkland. Our best advice is to walk right to the top of Parliament Hill for incredible panoramic views of the city skyline. In Summer the park does get packed with people having picnics or just enjoying a late night summer drink. But if you don’t fancy being around too many people then why not head over to Kenwood House.
